プラハを拠点に20年以上活動する即興集団Orloj Snivcůの一員、Martin Janíček（マーティン・ヤニーチェク）。U字に曲がったスティール・チェロ、木版上にやかんを弦で縛り付けたようなダルシマー、様々な長さの木板をぶら下げた巨大バラフォン、（鍼治療のように）木板に金属棒を突きさしたカリンバなど、風変わりな噪音発生装置を多数製作。本作「Katalog」は、それら自作楽器をソロ、またはアンサンブルで演奏し、文字通り音のカタログとして収めたソロ作品。ジャケットに写る楽器は#4の「Singing Plywood」（歌う合板）。
Martin Janicek, born 1961 in Prague. 1979, completed his training as a metal caster, since 1990, student of the Academy of FIne Arts in Prague. Has exhibited since 1981 - sculptures, objects. Since 1992, sound and video performances, projections, video. Lives and works in Prague. Martin Janicek has been involved since the 1980's in the Czech experimental art scene - focusing on sculptural sounding objects, improvisation and sound installations.
